Although I am going to let someone else have it I really like the “FIKA” spoon. It’s probably already gone! Wonderful job on all of these Dave. Love your spoons and bowls.

Amazing work as always! I like the stamped texturing on the “Take Time” spoon– a lovely contrast to the smoothness of the knife-finished surfaces. Hope you and yours are healthy and happy.

I love your work and use your photos to learn shapes/proportions for spoon carving. If possible, could you sometime show the side view of a spoon and how you transition the various cut lines into each other? Happy holidays to you and your family.

Great to hear that. I’ll try to work on a post specifically addressing that sometime. Meanwhile, there are various photos of spoons in some of my other posts that show a variety of angles. Still, I’ll try to provide some clarity on the subject of transitions.

Remember me? When I got your email last night I was drinking a whisky from Sweden — “Svensk Ek,” which means “Swedish Oak,” from the Mackmyra distillery — so when I saw the fika spoon it felt like fate. I lived in Sweden for a couple of years and still participate in digital fikas with friends. Alas, I was too slow and the spoon was already gone.
Anyway, I have no point other than to say “hi” and to wish you a happy holiday season. I always look forward to seeing your blog posts and the inspiring photos.

I keep finding (and being shown) things that keep me from the blades. Any time with them is good though.
What he says about being able to sit by yourself in a small space and do things that bring contentment is real, as you well know. Reminds me of when Fred and I were sitting on stumps just outside the building and working there in Tampa.

Thanks for the link, Jed. That is indeed an incredible film. I have the CD from when it first came out, but hadn’t watched it in a while. I’m glad to see that North House has shared it on Youtube now for many more to see and be inspired. It was wonderful to watch it again. Wille’s influence is hard to measure, and Jögge has continued in that mission.
Thanks for the reminder of the special times there in Tampa. You, Fred, and the rest of us shared many contented moments. Hope to do it again.
